i recently discovered the lovely breanne duren. she is insanely talented for a 24 year old, not to mention absolutely adorable! literally the cutest thing i have come across in a long long time

after downloading her EP "Sparks" i sat (as i tend to do) with my eyes shut and the door closed just listening, and i couldn't help but press repeat several times

from start to finish Duren's writing is sugar-sweet and catchy as hell! her lyrics could easily be overshadowed by the insanely addictive hooks and melodies but they really are worth a closer listen; honest and straightforward without sacrificing that sugar-coated pop element that i keep talking about.
the video below is the official clip for first single "Goldmine", and the stand out track on the EP for me. 60s influenced and boppy, the track is catchy from the first listen with a strong bassline that keeps coming back and leaves me wanting more everytime!

i dont really know the year 9s at my school...so i can't judge.
the year 11s are fairly ok i guess, the really good ones balance out the duds. but if i had to name a favourite year it would have to be year 10. YES YOU!  LOOK AT YOU, YOU TALENTED, CLEVER....yeah.

i must apologise again for being absent. chorals is eating my life. its over tomorrow night, i don't know what i'll do then! maybe do homework? study?
either way i'm incredibly excited and unbelievably sad that this is coming to an end. i am going to miss the girls so much and i hope that they all, especially the ones who aren't in year 12, will still come and talk to me and such ( i know some of you read this!)

also, its my birthday soon! i'll be 18 and all the wonders of nightlife will be mine. to be honest i'm just too lazy to go about getting an ID any other way than  by right of age.

booshy booshy always such a fun time

The Mighty Boosh....ahh what sweet wonder they bring to my life. Noel Fielding and I will be united in matrimony one day in the not so distant future. Its not just his crazy fashion or ridiculous sense of humour that I love; his wit and writing ability is truly admirable. One of my particular favourite parts of the Boosh (one of everybody's favourite parts I think) is the Crimp. Oh the crimp.
So this is a little dedication to the humble Crimp which has brought so much chanty, sing-songy, nonsensical goodness to my heart, and the hearts of so many others. I can legitimately tell you that this little ditty featured here; the Four Way Crimp as seen in season 3 is my ringtone at the moment; I can't wait for somebody to call me.

oh myyyyyyy god what a weekend.
Saturday saw one of the biggest storms to hit Melbourne since forever, it was sunny in the morning but by 2pm the sky was grim and it wasn't long before huge winds and heavy rain, thunder and lightning (and hail in some places! as big as tennis balls!) had descended. Needless to say, I stayed inside; silently celebrating the lack of sun, watching Finding Nemo.

Sunday I spent with Nicole, at Pushover; a music festival in Abbotsford Convent in Melbourne each March. I definitely reccomend everyone goes; we got to meet the members of some of my favourite bands - Yves Klein Blue,

                                  Wherewolves 

and Young Heretics. Just for the record; they're all very lovely and very attractive.

 It was a  great day made all the better by the weather. You guessed it, more rain.

 I love the rain!

I expect to see you all there next year!

i think everyone should do something they're uncomfortable with at least every month. thats why i'm trying to be more honest with people. thats not to say usually im a liar, but im fairly aware of people and i wont tell them the truth if it will hurt them or make them mad.

anyyyyway the point is that something ELSE i happen to be uncomfortable with is being away from my family for a long time. to counteract that...im in france. thats right, paris, france, europe. i have my camera so prepare for regular pictorial updates in the near future.

i like exactly nothing today

I'm in one of those weird in between places. At times like these, the only thing I know that I can rely on to make me feel better is my ipod, fattening food and sleeping. Since I shouldn't have to advocate sleeping and fattening food NOT GOOD KIDDIES, the only vaguely healthy option is music. and my goodness it is wonderful.
last fm is basically my new god for discovering new music.
at a push, music map isn't too bad either. the most important part is talking to people! if you have similar taste to your friends, chances are you'll like their reccomendations.

I love summer.
It's these days before the heat kicks in; when its ok to wear stupid flimsy dresses and shorts but also ok to wear jeans or skirts with pretty thick tights; when i can still go outside without fearing for my skin; when I fall in love with Melbourne again.
I don't think everyone really appreciates just how lucky Melburnians are to have the city we have. But I digress.
What I love about summer especially, is the communal nature of it. I mean think for a second; summer...barbecues, outdoor games, seeing friends, picnicking; these are all communal activities. And you know what else is a communal activity? Festivals!
Oh yes my lovelies, festival season is here again! And in Australia we sure have alot of choice.
Big Day Out is just around the corner( and  much to my chagrin, very sold out) with Muse headlining this year...I can hardly contain myself. There are 4500 tickets still to be allocated by ballot though; panique pas!
And BDO will be followed( and preceded ) by the Laneway Festival, Meredith, Good Vibrations, Pyramid, and countless others( including a particular favourite of mine, Pushover).

frenchy folky indie cute girly fun pop

...that is honestly the most precise definition I can find for Coeur de Pirate.

The solo project of Canadian Béatrice Martin, the girl has only just turned 20 and she makes really, truly beautiful music. Her lyrics are bittersweet and tinged with heartache and puberty blues, but somehow Beatrice makes it seem a whimsical and sweet existance.

lastfm suggests that listeners of coeur de pirate might also like Olivia Ruiz, who is another chanteuse francaise I am especially fond of. Check it out.
